Originally of Etruscan-Roman origins, the city flourished in the Middle Ages as a free municipality. Refined by Renaissance art and enriched by the Signoria Medicea, Florence is the cradle of the Italian language.

Once in Florence, our first stop will be the highest point of the city, Piazzale Michelangelo. From this terrace you can admire one of the most striking panoramas. Nearby you can also see the church of San Miniato (this Romanesque structure from the 11th century is the oldest church in Florence). After this stop, the driver will accompany you into the heart of the city, a true open-air museum, where you can reach its treasures by foot. The Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, or rather the Duomo, consecrated in 1436, has a huge dome and a red, white and green colored marble facade. The crypt with the tomb of the famous architect Brunelleschi is located near the entrance. Adjacent to the cathedral we find Giotto’s Bell Tower, a freestyle tower and jewel of Florentine Gothic architecture. The Baptistery is also located here with its famous gate of heaven.

004From here, you can walk to Piazza della Signoria where the Palazzo Vecchio, the town hall, and the Loggia dei Lanzi are located. Cellini’s Perseus and the replica of David can be found in the latter.

You can then visit the Uffizi Gallery, one of the most important museums in Italy, founded in 1581 by Francesco I de Medici, which has numerous works of art by Italian and foreign painters such as Cimabue, Giotto, Leonardo, Botticelli, Michelangelo, Rubes, Rembrandt, Goya and many others.

We continue to the Accademia Gallery, where you can find Michelangelo’s original David, as well as his Third Pietà and Prisons.

At Piazza Santa Croce you can visit the church of Santa Croce, filled with frescoes from the fourteenth century and where are the tombs of Michelangelo, Galileo, Rossini, Machiavelli are located. There are also specialty shops including the old leather school.

Florence is also famous for its shopping: there are designer boutiques such as Prada, Gucci, Armani, Ferragamo, Valentino, Damiani, Trussardi, Coveri, Versace and Zegna, as well as small shops of local artisans. The San Lorenzo market is characteristic, leading up to the famous Ponte Vecchio with its typical shops where you can find the most precious jewelry. In this area you can also taste and enjoy the delicious florentine cuisine prepared with the local ingredients that the rich lands of Tuscany offer, as well as its excellent world-famous wines.
