Starting from your hotel, the driver will take you on a tour lasting about four hours, a fascinating journey through the beautifully preserved ruins of Ostia, the ancient port of Rome.
The path between the archaeological excavations that have brought to light necropolis, baths, temples and houses, is a real walk through history. At the entrance to the ruins is the castle built by Pope Julius II in 1483, one of the first examples of military architecture.
Along the Via delle Tombe, which passes in front of the Porta Romana, we find the great Piazzale della Vittoria from the first Decumanus Maximus, the main road that runs a mile to the sea.
On the right there are the ancient Roman warehouses, the Terme di Nettuno (pools of Neptune) with the vast gym and the marine mosaics. From the Piazzale delle Corporazioni we reach the Theater erected during the reign of Augustus with a capacity of 3000 spectators.
Then take the Via di Diana with its balconies and stop at the Thermopolium before arriving at the city center.
